K9 Medical
The K9 Medical program, featuring the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (K9-TECC) curriculum, equips operational canine handlers with the advanced skills required to provide timely and effective pre-hospital care to injured working dogs.
Because handlers are often the first responders in the field, our course bridges a critical training gap — from basic first aid to trauma-informed emergency care. Instruction combines current clinical doctrine with practical, hands-on scenarios using industry-leading simulators, including full-body K9 trainers with realistic physiological responses.
Key components include:
-
Practical trauma assessment and stabilization
-
Haemorrhage control and advanced wound management
-
Airway and respiratory support techniques
-
Scenario–based casualty care under operational conditions
-
Evacuation considerations and field triage
This program enhances unit medical readiness and ensures canine assets can be rapidly and appropriately supported during and after critical incidents.
